The regular 8th grade admissions process for the 2012-2013 academic year is CLOSED.
How To Apply
Thank you for expressing your interest in Don Bosco Prep. We welcome all qualified applicants from Catholic, private, and public grammar schools seeking admission to the Prep. In order to be considered for admissions as an incoming freshmen (9th grade applicant), please follow the step-by-step instructions below:
The COOP Entrance Exam
The COOP exam is the Catholic High School Entrance Exam administered by the Archdiocese of Newark and the Diocese of Paterson. All 8th grade applicants are required to sit for the COOP exam on Friday, November 16th, 2012. Please visit www.coopexam.org to register and for further information. Please be sure to designate Don Bosco Prep (school code 807) as one of your choices on the COOP exam. We encourage applicants to designate Don Bosco Prep as their 1st Choice.
Students who miss the COOP Exam on Friday, November 16th should contact the Office of Admissions for details about the make-up exam.
The DBP Online Application
All 8th grade applicants are required to complete the online application, which may be accessed on our website. The application will be made available starting September 25th, 2012.
There is NO application fee.
There is an OPTIONAL essay/statement involved with the admissions process.
The deadline to submit the completed Admissions Application is December 17th, 2012.
Your School Transcripts
Transcripts should include all grades as well as standardized test results from 6th grade, 7th grade, and the 1st marking period of 8th grade. The applicant’s school may require a release of records form, which may be downloaded below ("9th Grade Applicant Record"). This expedites the process and saves you time. Please instruct the guidance counselor or principal to send the transcripts before the deadline of December 17th, 2012.
Preliminary Financial Aid Estimate (PFAE) - Optional Step
Prospective students applying to Don Bosco Prep are now able to apply for financial aid earlier than in previous years. This will allow 8th grade applicants to receive a preliminary financial aid estimate in their acceptance packets. Click here for more information.
A Letter of Recommendation - Optional Step
Applicants may submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, pastor, service coordinator, coach, or DBP alumnus. You may access the teacher recommendation form below. We accept letters of recommendation also.
