Summer Reading & Assignments: SENIORS
Seniors are required to read the 2013-2014 Don Bosco Prep Parent/Student Handbook.
English
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
ISBN: 9781594489501
Seniors must keep a journal as they read their assigned book. Journal entries for seniors should be hand-written at periodic intervals (for example, at the conclusion of each chapter or every 40 pages) and should emphasize well-developed reactions to and analysis of the material just read. Journal entries should reflect an evolving sense of the story and its characters and should also make connections to contemporary events and personal experience. Legibility and correctness of expression (conciseness, use of supporting details, variety of sentence structures, spelling, and punctuation) are important. The journals should be at least 20 pages in length. Students will write an in-class essay on the assigned book within the first week of classes in September.
