Four Don Bosco Prep Football Players Selected to Play in 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl

First time in History that Four (4) Players have been selected from one High School

A special awards ceremony sponsored by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl was held at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ, on Thursday, December 8, 2011, honoring four senior student athletes from Don Bosco Prep who have been invited to be part of the east versus west high school competition on Saturday, January 7, 2012.

Don Bosco Prep Seniors (from left to right in photo) Yuri Wright, Darius Hamilton, Leonte Carroo  and Elijah Shumate have been selected  to play in the 2012 U. S. Army All-American Bowl to be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on January 7.

It is an unprecedented to have four students from one school be selected as All-American high school players.  Kaitlin Kazinski, a representative of the All-American Gamesand the U.S. Army All-American Bowl said,   “It is the first time in bowl history that we’ve had four players from one school.”  Addressing a large group of the Don Bosco Prep student body, Ms. Kasinski said, “These players have exhibited the mental, emotional and physical strength similar to Army Strong Soldiers. We are proud to honor these young men who are the embodiment of these strengths and allow them to wear the colors of the U. S. Army.”

The annual East vs. West match-up, which will be televised live on NBC at 1:00PM EST, will feature the nation’s top 90 high school football players.

Don Bosco Prep Head Football Coach Greg Toal has also been invited to travel to San Antonio and attend the US Army Coaches Academy, an elite three-day learning experience featuring NFL and NCAA coaches.

Player Statistics

Leonte Carroo – Senior, 6’1”, Wide Receiver, from Edison, NJ, committed in August to play for Rutgers U. next year.

Darius Hamilton – Senior, 6’4”, Defensive Lineman, Paterson, NJ, is considering Rutgers, University of Florida, University of California at Berkeley, University of Tennessee, Ohio State and USC.

Elijah Shumate- Senior, 6’1”, Running Back/Safety, from East Orange, NJ, considering Rutgers, University of South Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia.

Yuri Wright – Senior, 6’2”, Defensive Back, from Spring Valley, NY, is considering Rutgers, University of Colorado, University of Michigan, Notre Dame and USC.
