January 27, 2012 - Newark Food Run

Student members of the Ironmen Speak Out Club and Youth Ministry Organization joined together this evening to make a Newark Food Run delivering 120 care packages to the Newark YM/YWCA for distribution to those in need.

Under the leadership of English Teacher Michael McLean '01 and with the assistance of Theology Teacher Christian Clark '01, students brought care packages they had assembled themselves aboard the school bus for a 4:00 pm run into Newark.

The care packages included carefully made ham and cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, granola bars, a piece of fruit, organic juice boxes, and an inspirational quote.

Students Brian Sullivan '12, Nicholas Caputo '15, Alex Galimi '15, Colin Finn '14, Christopher Bazzini '14, John Humphrey '15, Gerard Wood '14, Alex Sanders '15 and Brian Sanders '12 all had the opportunity to experience making personal contributions to assist the homeless and poor in this neighboring city.

Ironmen Speak Out is a new student club that advocates for human rights, social justice and a student voice. Students strive to change the world by first inspiring their campus in the Spirit of Don Bosco's affinity for the young and the poor.
