Don Bosco Prep Holds World Language Honor Societies Induction
The Don Bosco Prep World Language Department held its induction ceremony before family, faculty, and friends on Wednesday evening, April 18, 2012 in the DeSales Hall Auditorium. A total of sixty-three students were inducted into four language honor societies including French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
The program was moderated by Ms. Daniela Sepulveda, Chairperson of the World Language Department. Don Bosco Prep Director/President Fr. James Heuser, SDB, started the evening with the prayer, “God is Love” spoken in several languages. The installation into the Honor Societies were led by teachers Mr. Jessica Shearer – French Honor Society, Dr. Heidi Rohrs - German Honor Society, Ms. Daniela Sepulveda – Italian Honor Society, and Mr. Ignacio Urbino – Spanish Honor Society.
Junior Travis J. Curtain, who is also a member of the National, Italian, and Math Honor Societies, read a passage in Italian. During the induction ceremonies, students read from classical literature in their respective world language area of study.
Following the inductions, Don Bosco Prep Principal Mr. John Stanczak addressed the students and their families on the challenges and value of studying world languages in expressing their thoughts and ideas in the flattening global world in which they live.
