Fr. Esteban Ortiz, SDB Makes Extraordinary Visitation to Don Bosco Prep
April 24, 2012 - Fr. Esteban Ortiz, SDB, the Interamerican Regional Councilor for the Salesian Society of St. John Bosco, the Roman Catholic order of priests and brothers which administers Don Bosco Prep, will spend four days at the school from April 24 through 28, in an Extraordinary Visit representing the Salesian Rector Major Fr. Pascual Chavez Villanueva, SDB, and the Salesian Council in Rome.
As Regional Councilor for the Interamericas, Fr. Ortiz is the direct liaison between The Salesian Society’s ministries in North America, Central America, South America and the Rector Major and his council. The region that Fr. Ortiz represents includes twenty-three countries, twelve provinces, 1,465 confreres, 65 novices, and 31 bishops.
Fr. Ortiz was born in Ecuador in 1946. He earned a degree in education sciences in 1968. He was ordained a Salesian priest in 1975 and was Rector of Machala (1982-1987), Rector of Guayaquil (1992 – 1997), Provincial Councilor (1984-1990), Provincial (1997-2002), General Council (2002-2008). He is proficient in four languages including Spanish, Italian, English and Portuguese.
