Don Bosco Prep DECA students put their business knowledge to the test at NJ DECA’s Regional Competition.
On January 8th, Business Pathway students had the opportunity to participate in NJ DECA’s Regional Competition! ”DECA is an international organization that provides high school and college students networking opportunities, social interactions, real life business scenarios, and guest speakers from the business community. DECA’s mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Its guiding principles include academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible and experienced leaders.”
Don Bosco Prep is the only all boys private high school in the state of New Jersey with its own chapter. This year, we have over 150 students involved in the program. 63 members of our Don Bosco Prep DECA Chapter attended the 2020 Regional Competition at Ramapo College of New Jersey on January 8th. Our students were given a business case, had 10 minutes to analyze the situation, and then participated in a role play with a judge. In the role play, students presented their findings and offered suggestions for the company in the case based on the facts and their knowledge of the business subject area. They competed in the areas of finance, management, human resources, hospitality and tourism, marketing, entrepreneurship, sales, and more! Depending on their scores, some of our students will hopefully qualify for the NJ DECA State Competition in March. Stay tuned!
