Don Bosco Prep Hosts 10th Annual High School and Collegiate A Capella Sing Off.
In its Fourteenth Season, Chapel Concerts at Don Bosco presented its Tenth Annual "Collegiate A Cappella Sing Off Concert" on Friday evening, January 31st in DeSales Auditorium. Five high school a cappella groups participated, including Ramsey High School’s Ramjams, Trinity High School’s Trinitones, and groups from Central Valley and Notre Dame High Schools. As hosts, The Don Bosco Prep Chorus began the concert singing Uptown Girl by Billy Joel and an arrangement of Under the Sea from Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Collegiate groups included Fairfield’s Bensonians and Sweet Harmony, Ramapo College’s Riffrunners, Marist’s Time Check and Lovely Sirens, University of New Haven’s Fully Charged, and Fordham University’s Ramblers. All groups came together for a grand finale singing Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’.
“This night is really more about fun, than competition, but the Sing Off format establishes a platform for high energy and lots of enthusiasm,” says Toni Bilotti Cecere, Artistic Director of Chapel Concerts. “Having college-aged singers at Don Bosco Prep gives our high school students a collegiate-level singing experience while providing a wonderful concert for the community. It’s a great night for everyone! And who doesn’t love a cappella?”
Two additional concerts are scheduled this season: an evening of Jazz with NYC Jazz musicians on March 7th at 7:30pm and International Guitar Picking Champion and Ramapo University Professor Mark Sganga on Saturday, April 4 th at 7:30pm.
