DBP Athletics On Top Of Its Game

It’s been a few big days for Don Bosco Prep sports!

#1 seed Don Bosco Prep Varsity hockey team has advanced to the state non-public championship game and will take on Delbarton (#2) at the Prudential Center in Newark at 2pm. Doors open at 1pm, and tickets are available at the gate. DBP fans will sit in sections 3-7.

Later in the day, Ironmen Varsity Basketball takes on Bergen Catholic in the semifinals of the  Non-Public A State Tournament, being held at Bergen Catholic. Tickets available at the gate; arrive early! Tip-off is 7pm

Don Bosco Prep’s Ski Racing Team came away with tremendous victories on the slopes in the State Championship. DBP swept the team competition in the Overall, Giant Slalom and Slalom Championships for the third year in a row! Senior Mark Mierop won the Overall Championship title, and Seniors Brian Smith, Mark Mierop, and Billy O’Brien swept Slalom in the Race of Champions. Mark Mierop and Billy O’Brien took the top two spots in the Combined competition.
Congratulations to the seniors who finished the season First Team All-State: Mark Mierop, Brian Smith, Billy O’Brien and Brian Dutcher. Congratulations boys and Coach Phil Godwin!

Senior Peter Acciardi won the state championship in Wrestling today! The win gives DBP a state championship win for the fourth straight year.

Also this week: Varsity basketball senior Marcellus Earlington announced his commitment to St. John's University, and senior Matt Harasme has committed to St. Peter’s University. Senior Ron Harper Jr. was named Male Athlete of the Week by northjersey.com.
