It has been a long tradition of Don Bosco Prep to collect food to the poor and needy through our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. This year, our Food Drive kicked off on October 29 with the goal of collecting at least 14,000 lbs of food items for the poor and hungry. As of now we have collected only 4,650 pounds of non-perishable food items. Last year, our goal was to collect at least 12,000 lbs of food items, and we went above and beyond by collecting almost 16,000 lbs!
We are less than a week away from our deadline of November 19, and we need to collect around 10,000 lbs in order to meet this year's goal of 14,000 lbs! We can meet this goal if every student, staff, and faculty member bringing in at least 10 lbs of food items. I invite all clubs, sports, societies, and organizations on campus to go all out to collect food for the poor. Go and ask your parents, neighbors, relatives, and friends to contribute to our DBP Thanksgiving Food Drive!
Students: please bring the food items to your homeroom each day, and you will be instructed via the morning announcement when to bring down the food to the white POD located in the Visitor Parking Lot (next to the Media Center).
Parents: you may bring in food items after school and leave them next to the white POD (Visitor's Parking Lot).
Teachers/Staffs: you may bring the food items directly to the white POD or drop them off at the nearest homeroom.
This year our Food Drive will support 3 organizations (see attached files):
- St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly in Totowa, NJ (http://www.littlesistersofthepoortotowa.org/
Please see the attached files for the items that they need. If you wan to give a basket of food to Our Way to H.O.P.E., please put a label or tag on the basket/bag with the following words "Our Way to HOPE".
TURKEY AND HAM DROP on Friday November 16
- We will have the Turkey and Ham Drop at the white POD (Visitor Lot) on this Friday November 16. There will be a couple bins labeled "Turkey and Ham Drop", please drop the meat in there.
Thank you to Mrs. Waymouth and Mr. Nepo for facilitating the staff/faculty money collection to buy food for the poor. Thank you to all who have donated food already. Together we can meet our goal and feed the poor and hungry.
