Eighty four Don Bosco Prep students and nine chaperones boarded a bus on Friday for the March for Life in Washington, DC.
While waiting for the March to begin, the boys led pro-life chants, encouraging other groups to try to match our enthusiasm (they could not).
The boys spent time with students from Salesian High School in New York and Don Bosco Cristo Rey in Washington, DC. At the end of the March, the group participated in a pro-life prayer service, which included testimonials from women who have had abortions.
On the bus ride back, the Salesian chaperones, Br. Tom Dion, Kevin White, John Castonguay, and Paul Hotovy, gave reflections on the significance of the March as well as their personal reasons for participating. Students led a Rosary, followed by a bus ride jam session.
The March for Life was an opportunity for further education on pro-life issues, as well as an opportunity for students to see themselves as part of a larger movement of those protecting those who cannot defend themselves.
