Even though it was pouring outside on Friday night, it didn’t stop the 19 Ironmen who committed to the Covenant House Sleep Out! The boys all slept on the gym floor, with their efforts raising about $10,000.
Four representatives from Covenant House joined the group, including “Michael”, who just moved into the "transition housing" that Covenant House provides. Michael shared his story about his experiences at the Covenant House and feeling like he found a home. During his time there, he has become certified as a phlebotomist and plans on continuing his education in the medical field. He answered a lot of questions from our students, and as a thank you, DBP gave him a gift bag with new socks, snacks and a Don Bosco sweatshirt. Also joining us was DBP alum Frank Campagnola ’09 who works at Covenant House's Dove Learning Center.
It was a very successful night and we as a school community could not be more proud of the 19 boys who slept on the hard floor in solidarity with the homeless. Thank you to Mr. Moore, Ms. Rando, and Mrs. Anderson for staying the entire night with the boys.
The donation page will stay open until the end of the school year. sleepout.org/team/donbosco
