Dear Families and Friends of Don Bosco Prep,
We are pleased to announce that we have successfully concluded the search for a new principal and enthusiastically introduce alumnus Ermanno (Manny) Morelli as the next Principal of Don Bosco Prep High School, effective July 1, 2019.
A 2002 graduate of Don Bosco Prep, Manny earned his B.A. in History from Boston College, after which he went on to earn two master’s degrees, an M.Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard Graduate School of Education and an M.A. in Education Leadership from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
Manny comes to us from Regis High School, where he is currently serving as Dean of Students. Prior to that, he has taught over ten years in several schools: Westwood High School, Cresskill Middle/High School, and Newark Academy, where he also served as Director of the Community Service Program. He has also been an adjunct professor at Relay Graduate School of Education in Manhattan, forming social studies teachers and designing curriculum.
We are excited for Manny to join our community and build upon the strengths of Don Bosco Prep. When he entered as a 9th grader from Park Ridge two decades ago, he found a HOME here and absorbed the educational charism of St. John Bosco, which guides him still. His academic learning and experience will assuredly develop us further as a SCHOOL for the 21st century preparing our young men for life. The importance he gives to his Catholic faith and his steady practice of worship and service will advance us as a CHURCH. And his personal experience as an avid runner will help develop us further as a PLAYGROUND.
In a statement, Manny reflected: “I am humbled and honored to serve as the next principal of Don Bosco Prep. It is an incredible gift to know I’m coming home to the place that played such an important role in molding me into the man I am today. Bosco’s focus on faith, service, and academic rigor empowered me to choose the education profession, and I am excited to pay that forward to the next generation of Ironmen as we work to bring Bosco to the next level.”
Our search committee represented a cross section of our community, as it included teachers, parents, staff, alumni, administrators and Salesians. Several members of our Board of Trustees also assisted in the search and discernment. We are grateful for the time, effort and reflection that all contributed over the past three months.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Manny back home to Don Bosco Prep, along with his wife Angelique.
