DBP Holds 104th Commencement Exercises
Don Bosco Prep held its 104th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, June 1st, celebrating its 196 graduating Seniors.

This year’s Valedictorian was Andrew Michael Pugliese. Andrew is a member of multiple Honor Societies, is a member of the Robotics team, and has excelled in the Art program at Don Bosco. He will attend Princeton University in the fall. This year’s Salutatorian, Aidan Patrick Pizzo, will attend Georgetown University.

The Commencement Address was given by The Honorable Arnold L. Natali, Jr., J.S.C., a member of Don Bosco Prep’s Class of 1982. Members of the Class of 1959 were honored in celebration of the 50th Reunion year. Nine members represented the Class of 1959 at commencement, leading the graduates in the procession, and received a special commemoration from Fr. James Heuser, SDB, Director/President.

Awards were given to the graduates for General Excellence in academics and service. This year’s awardees are: Gold - Andrew Michael Pugliese; Silver - Aidan Patrick Pizzo; Bronze - Alec Manuel Morlote

Theology - Sebastian T. Fox; English - Andrew Michael Pugliese; Latin - Aidan S. Youngs; Spanish - Alec Manuel Morlote; Italian - Austin Y. Chang; Mandarin - Sean Liam Moran; Mathematics - Aidan Patrick Pizzo; Biology - Andrew Michael Pugliese; Chemistry - Alec Manuel Morlote; Physics - Michael Ryan Maher; Social Studies - Aidan Patrick Pizzo; Business - Aidan S. Youngs; Art - Andrew Michael Pugliese; Concert Band - Aden John Shatouhy; String Orchestra - Sebastian T. Fox; Vocal Music - William August Hinck; Computer Science - Michael Ryan Maher; Robotics - Brent Christian Mastromarino; Physical Education - John Michael Renicker

The Don Bosco Award is given to those students who meet certain and select stringent criteria in the academic field, as well asin co-curricular activities.  Those students should display character, service and leadership, which are the hallmark of a Salesian education. The recipients of this most prestigious award are:

Adam Bobroy, Curtis Bommer, Matthew Daley, Sean Devir, Eric Frank, Victor Konopka, Brent Mastromarino, Liam McDine, Sean Moran and Devan Sharma

The Outstanding Graduate Award was presented to Jake Tarentino. It is awarded each year to a senior who demonstrates superior qualities and virtue in all aspects of student life. The awardee shall demonstrate excellence in academics, loyalty, and service to the school, and manifests a wholesome attitude during his four years at Don Bosco Prep. He symbolizes a young man who we desire all Don Bosco students to emulate.

Principal Robert Fazio addressed the students in the closing remarks of the ceremony. “Be honest, always,” he said. “Be honest with your words, always. And if nothing else works, in the words of Mother Teresa: love. Love is the greatest gift of all.”

Don Bosco Prep held its Baccalaureate Mass this past Friday, honoring its 196 graduates and their families. Celebrated by Fr. James Heuser, SDB, Director/President and concelebrated by Fr. Paul Chu, SDB, Fr. Jim Mulloy, SDB, Fr. Lou Konopelski, SDB, and Fr. John Blanco, SDB at St. Paul RC Church in Ramsey. The beautiful music was provided by DBP's Choir and Band.
