THAT'S A WRAP!

Media Camp a Success
DBP’s Communication Arts Department just completed its eight-day intensive video summer workshop!

From concept to creation, students learned how to build their own production company’s brand and image, and create a prototype which they write, produce, film and edit themselves. At the end of the two-week session yesterday, the seven students presented their trailers and short film to an audience of family, friends, and DBP staff and administration at a special viewing party including movie popcorn and snacks.

Also during the session, the students were lucky enough to hear from two guest speakers. TV/film/stage actor Joe Barbara, P’21, ‘23, famous for his roles in Broadway’s ‘A Bronx Tale’, and ‘Jersey Boys’, and on television’s ‘Another World’, encouraged them to continue on the path they are on. “As long as you know the foundation of acting, it will not only help you on the small and big screen, it will help you in life,” he said, adding a famous line from‘A Bronx Tale’,The choices you make will shape your life forever.”

Vas Mountzouros, Director of Marketing and Creative for WPIX-11 Digital and News, visited the studio and discussed how to create original content and the importance of on-air promotions. She also spoke to the students about the future of digital media.
