B.E.S.T. PROGRAM

Second Session A Success!
Don Bosco Prep’s B.E.S.T. (Brothers Eagerly Serving Together) second weeklong program was a total success. With a full slate of 15 current and incoming students, the program offers the boys a week of community service projects and team building exercises, aimed to teach them the importance and benefits of serving the community.

On their first full day, the boys cleaned up campus, including painting the gazebo. On Wednesday, the group prepared and served lunch at the Newark Soup Kitchen with the Missionaries of Charity. They worked with the kids at Camp Don Bosco in Port Chester, NY on Thursday. That evening they prepared clothes and meals for the homeless and made a midnight run into NYC to distribute the packages.

The boys spent Friday morning at the Paterson Coalition for the Homeless, hearing a talk by a former homeless person and then helped with landscaping on the property. They played host that evening to visiting Salesian missionaries. On their last day they visited with some of the developmentally disabled residents at the Fitzpatrick House before closing camp with a beautiful family mass.

Led by Br. Sasika, Dalton Friend, Fr. Paul, and Jon Tranate, the group began each day with Mass and breakfast with the Salesian community. Some of the recreational activities included a trip to an adventure room, ice cream walk, and a pool and lake party.
