DBP GETTING IT DONE!

While school systems and educators across the country ponder the best way to get students back into the classroom, Don Bosco Prep is getting it done! Since the start of the 2020-2021 school year, Don Bosco Prep has offered the opportunity to our 775 students for safe, in-person, in-classroom learning. From our first school day in September, Bosco has afforded our students the opportunity to attend school on campus and in person, which has amounted to 71% of all school days. This impressive rate has only occurred with the support and effort of the entire Don Bosco community.

Mr. Robert Fazio, President, credits the school’s successful effort to the diligent work of its administration, faculty, staff, and students who together, implemented and adhered to rigorous safety protocols, including mandatory mask-wearing, sanitizing stations and social distancing across campus.

“Proper measures continue to be taken to ensure everyone's safety on campus. The school’s stringent guidelines have been clearly outlined and implemented so that attendance may continue to flourish," Fazio emphasized, adding, "We are very proud of our Don Bosco Prep community for the extraordinary measures they have taken so that we can enjoy our beautiful campus. We realize the importance of being together in person, more in our awake hours, than we are anyplace else in the course of the day.”

In addition to safety protocols, Don Bosco Prep is proud to have been able to creatively reimagine and repurpose parts of our 35-acre campus to create extended learning centers, which help us meet social distancing guidelines and enable our students to continue their learning safely and seamlessly on campus every day.

“Bosco has always felt like a home to me. When we were all home under quarantine back in the spring, I felt ‘homesick’ despite being in my own home,” John Forsatz ‘20 said. “Thankfully, being back on campus with my classmates feels exactly the same, even with the masks and the increased distance between desks.”

Those Ironmen who elect to learn remotely are also given unprecedented virtual access to campus: for classes, school live streamed events like Spirit Week, Masses, and morning announcements.

It is an overwhelming credit to all members of the Bosco community, that close to 800 faculty, staff members and students are on campus each and every day. This joint effort also allows for students to safely continue to participate in the many athletics, clubs and activities that form the brotherhood that is so unique to Don Bosco Prep. The faculty, staff and students are committed to doing what they have to do to stay on campus, and we are getting it done!
