THOMAS BREW EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT

Don Bosco Prep students always find a way to give back to the school that gives them so much, and Thomas Brew ‘21 is among them. When Thomas was deciding on his Eagle Scout project, Bosco came to mind first. Being involved with several faith-based organizations on campus like Youth Ministry, Rosary Club and Adoration, he considered something religious for campus.

“I noticed we didn’t have a Stations of the Cross area outside on campus, and thought it would be great to have,” Thomas said. “I wanted it to stand out and be visible. I like that when you’re driving up you can see it from the road.”

Thomas’ project, which is displayed in the area behind Thomas Kennedy Memorial Park, between the pond and gazebo, took approximately six months to complete. It included getting the materials, planning out the spaces, constructing and installing the bases, pouring the gravel, and constructing, painting and installing the crosses. Thomas is happy with the color of the stain on the crosses, which make them stand out more. There are crosses for each of the fourteen stations.
.
Thomas, who is headed to Colgate University in the fall, has belonged to Troop 59 in Allendale since he was in fifth grade. He is waiting for his board of review for his Eagle rank.

He hopes that the Stations of the Cross will be used in the future by students. ”I’m happy that I did something for Bosco, because it did so much for me,” said Thomas.
