DBP'S NEW ENGINEERING CENTER

Don Bosco Prep is proud to announce that the construction of a state-of-the-art robotics and engineering learning center is underway in the third floor space of Savio Hall in the heart of our campus. With much gratitude, we have received gifts from two very generous donors, one from the Forgione Family to create the Forgione Family Engineering Center, including two classrooms and lab space, and one from an anonymous donor, enabling us to finish the floor with a large multi-purpose area/flexible space for the school community. The Forgione Family Engineering Center, which ensures the enhancement and growth of this hands-on, project-based robotics and engineering program, will be available for students for the start of the 2022-23 school year.

“Having this cutting-edge technology and open space environment gives us the ability to compete on a collegiate level,” said Mr. Robert Fazio, President. “The large, open space allows us the opportunity to not only afford the growth of the robotics/engineering program for our students, but also to transform the area into a collaborative learning environment for the entire community. We are eternally grateful to our donors who have made this possible for our current and future students.”

“Don Bosco Prep means a lot to our family,” added Mr. Joe Forgione, who is the Founder and Principal of JMF Properties. “We are grateful for the opportunity to support such an innovative, forward-thinking project that will provide the best in science and engineering education to students for many years to come.”

The distinguishing feature of Don Bosco Prep’s program is the four-year engineering curriculum that is currently in place. The robotics/engineering program at Don Bosco Prep consists of the Engineering Pathway, robotics/engineering elective courses, and an engineering club. Don Bosco Prep also has two varsity teams who participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition, the most prestigious high school robotics competition in the world, as well as a Junior-varsity FIRST Robotics Competition team and three freshman FIRST Tech Challenge Teams.

Our robotics program has grown tremendously, from three percent of our student body at its inception to where it is today. This academic year, twenty percent of the student body is active in the engineering/robotics program. This completed space allows the ability to acquire additional cutting-edge equipment with which to teach these students, while making it an even more desirable school experience for new students.

The Forgione Family Engineering Center and extended third floor area offers panoramic views of the beautiful 36-acre campus and the nearby Ramapo Mountains, as well as abundant sunlight. "With the completion of the Forgione Family Engineering Center, we will be even better positioned to prepare our young men to be transformational leaders and inspiring innovators in the 21st century and beyond,” said Fr. Abraham Feliciano, SDB, Director.

Don Bosco Prep is currently forging a partnership with New Jersey Institute of Technology to assist in the expansion of the robotics and engineering program while enhancing our curriculum. “Our partnership with NJIT will create college credit opportunities for our students and it will put them at the forefront of the minds of the leading engineering professionals in our state,” said Mr. Joseph Azzolino, Principal of Don Bosco Prep.
