WELCOME BACK BR. TRAVIS!

We are excited to welcome back Br. Travis Gunther, SDB to Don Bosco Prep! Br. Travis, who spent three and a half years with us as an art teacher from 2016-2019, has been assigned to DBP as Coordinator of Youth Ministry, and he’s already in full gear!

Br. Travis spent the past three years in Barcelona, Spain studying theology while also participating in a special program for those fulfilling their formation as Salesian brothers. He has also spent some time traveling and experiencing the Salesian reality in Spain and Italy, visiting and spending time with the Salesian communities in Rome, Pamplona, Seville, and Madrid, as well as Slovenia.

Br. Travis was eager to return to the United States to begin the next chapter of his mission, and is grateful to be returning to Don Bosco Prep as CYM. “I’m excited to be back,” said Br. Travis. “It’s a sense of returning home. All of the students I’ve taught have graduated, but I am looking forward to meeting new students and building upon the strong foundation here at Don Bosco Prep.”

While in Barcelona, he also studied Spanish, worked in a parish, and continued enjoying his passion for art. He lived in a community with thirty brothers from around the world. “We all lived in the richness of the Salesian charism,” said Br. Travis. “We are from different backgrounds, but all have a common core and common mission.”

Br. Travis will also be teaching a theology class, but his main focus will be on his role as Coordinator of Youth Ministry. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation laid by the previous CYM’s,” he said. “We are excited to bring back the mission trip programs. I want to move the mission forward amongst the young. It’s not about maintaining the status quo, it’s about how we can best serve the young people and their families, and helping them claim Don Bosco as theirs.”

The Salesian community at Don Bosco Prep is happy to welcome Br. Travis back. "No stranger to the Don Bosco Prep Family, Br. Travis Gunther returns home, greatly enriched by his formation and education abroad,” said Fr. Abraham Feliciano, SDB, Director. “His youthful cheer, zeal for souls, and tremendous relational skills, coupled with his considerable experience and deep faith make him a true apostle to the young.  Our already vibrant Youth Ministry program will only grow under his leadership."

Br. Travis was happy to be a part of B.E.S.T. Program over the past two weeks, working with our students as they participated in service in our local communities and beyond.  “We work, play, and pray together,” he said. “Not only is it enjoyable but these are life-filling moments, for the boys and for us.”

Br. Travis is looking forward to meeting our Ironmen and being a part of their daily Bosco lives.
Stop by and see Br. Travis in the Youth Ministry office in Immaculata Hall!
