The Don Bosco Prep Robotics Varsity and Junior Varsity teams competed at the FIRST Robotics Competition Mid-Atlantic District event in Mt. Olive this past weekend, against 38 teams from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The varsity team started off slowly, going 0-3 in their first three matches but, as they gained more experience with this year's robot, went 7-1 the rest of the way to finish their qualification matches with a record of 8-4. They earned the right to be the captain of the eighth alliance in the elimination rounds, but lost to the top-seeded alliance in the quarterfinals.
The junior varsity team made a respectable showing with a final record of 6 - 6 in their qualification matches. The purpose of the JV team is to give freshmen and sophomores experience that they would not otherwise get with only a varsity team. The junior varsity team will compete at the Bridgewater event this coming weekend, and the varsity team will compete in Montgomery March 23-25.
