Craig Dietel '13 Associate Director of Public Relations and Alumni
Last week, the Don Bosco Prep community hosted our Annual Alumni Career Day where alumni are invited back to speak to current juniors about their future goals, careers and how Don Bosco Prep influenced them throughout their lives.
The day began in the Auditorium with Tim Gysin ‘13 performing the National Anthem, followed by Mr. Rich Wisniewski, Alumni Director, addressing the boys about the events of the day. Bob Zuppe ‘91, who began Career Day in 2002 along with Wisniewski, and who is now currently on staff in the Alumni Office, addressed the Juniors about the network they will have among their fellow Ironmen when looking for internship and employment opportunities in the future.
Following the opening sessions in the auditorium, alumni and students broke into smaller groups where they could more personally discuss career choices, selection of college majors, interview techniques, and how to navigate the job market and explore potential career paths.
The day concluded with the boys and the alumni gathering again in the auditorium where alumni were separated by profession so the juniors could speak one-on-one with alumni whose career paths align with their certain interests. John Pizzarelli ‘78, international jazz legend, performed three songs, and then joined in with Gysin for their fabulous rendition of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man.”
Alumni were invited back to the Dining Gallery in Savio Hall for a catered lunch to thank them for volunteering their time for the sake of our boys.
Thank you to all of the alumni who came out. We hope you enjoyed meeting the current Ironmen. We know they are so grateful for your time!
