Murray Family Honored at Leonidas Foundation Kickoff Event
Jennifer Passerino, Director of Public Relations
Many congratulations to Linda Murray, DBP Faculty, and the Murray family for receiving the “Leader of the Year Award” from the Leonidas Foundation at their second annual Kickoff event last night.
The Leonidas Foundation was created in memory of Leonidas Vagias ‘15, who was killed tragically in 2016. Leo was a kicker for the DBP football team for four years.
Linda, her husband, Aidan, and sons Patrick ‘09 and Aidan ‘12 were honored for their commitment to the values Leo embodied in his short life. Leo had a connection to each of the Murray’s on the football field and in the classroom while at Don Bosco Prep. Linda was one of Leo’s teachers, senior Aidan helped coach, younger Aidan was a teammate, and Patrick and Leo would practice kick together. Leo’s father, Teddy Vagias, said last night that each of the Murray’s assisted in Leo’s “spiritual, physical, and mental development.”
The Leonidas Foundation has helped establish the L.E.O. (Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Opportunity) Program at Don Bosco Prep, which began this year with 25 students. The Leonidas Foundation has committed $100,000 to the Program. We are proud that students in the L.E.O. Program were in attendance last night and were recognized by the Foundation.
