Welcome new students!
Today, Don Bosco Prep welcomed the freshmen and transfer students to campus for Oratory Day, a day of orientation for new students to help get them acclimated to their new home.
The students got to meet their ‘Big Brothers’, a group of upperclassmen who are part of a program revamped by Fr. Paul Chu, SDB and the Youth Ministry Department this year that show the new students around and answer any of their questions. These Big Brothers continue on as being friendly faces to the new students throughout the school year. Oratory Day would not have been a success without their devotion to the program and their fellow peers.
Throughout the day, students went to different stations run by faculty and staff to hear about various topics such as homeroom logistics, technology, the DBP Honor Code and discipline, ‘Who is Don Bosco’, as well as a student panel on Bosco Brotherhood. Each session was 25 minutes in length and focused on the different areas students may have the most questions about.
Barbeque lunch was served at 11:40 a.m. courtesy of the Fathers’ Club and Mothers’ Guild and students were released early at 12:30 p.m. due to the extreme heat. Had dismissal gone as planned, there would have been field games at Granatell Stadium, however the heat and humidity forced a change of plans.
We hope everyone enjoyed the day and we welcome them to Bosco!
