Don Bosco Prep has a deep commitment to educating our boys to the truths of our Catholic Faith. One of the most important Gospel values we advance is service to the poor in Christ’s Name. For this reason, we have established a yearly mission trip over Christmas Break for some of our Juniors to Belle Glade, Florida. Belle Glade has approximately 19,000 people, most of whom are migrant workers in the sugar cane industry, and is one of the poorest communities in the United States. In Belle Glade, parents work late hours in the fields, often having no choice but to leave their children unattended.
DBP helps run a winter camp for over 100 underprivileged children at our Salesian parish of St. Philip Benizi. The camp is a safe environment where children can engage in academic activities, games, and other fun activities while their parents are at work. Don Bosco Prep is grateful for this opportunity to move our students and these poor youth to encounter Jesus in a spirit of faith, family, and fun. Through this camp, our boys and these children are able to obtain a growing knowledge of the Catholic faith.
We ask, first and foremost, for your prayers, but also welcome your donations and hope you will consider purchasing some hand-carved items from the Holy Land (click to see items available). These items are produced by the Giacaman Family in Bethlehem, Palestinian Catholics proud of their heritage and desire to remain in the Land of our Lord. In supporting our students and the children of Belle Glade, you are also helping these Palestinian youth gainfully employed.
