Guidance En Route to College
We are a college preparatory high school. It’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly. Universities recognize our commitment, and our 100% college acceptance rate backs that up.
Don Bosco has opened my son not only to better academics but an amazing group of people including staff, friends, and families. He appreciates and cherishes all aspects of the Salesian experience. We, as a family, consider ourselves so lucky to have the experience of Don Bosco and are forever grateful that our son will always have this brotherhood to turn to.

Our Counseling Approach
Don Bosco counselors collaborate with teachers and administrators to keep each student on track. They also work with each student individually and in group settings to provide information relevant to academic planning, standardized testing, career exploration, and college readiness.
But the Don Bosco counseling process is so much more than academic guidance:
- Our Salesian-trained counselors also focus on the development of a student’s heart and soul.
- They address the emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of students.
- Don Bosco counselors often help students navigate ethical dilemmas.
- Our counselors help students develop a sense of social responsibility.
- Our team’s personalized and caring approach fosters a sense of family within the school community.
- Don Bosco counselors encourage leadership, self-reflection, and active community participation.
Our Salesian approach to counseling our students helps make Don Bosco one of the best private high schools in NJ.
Timeline of Expectations
Our focus is always on college preparation:
-
Freshmen
- The early focus is on transition, study skills, and involvement in the school community through extracurricular clubs and activities. Students are introduced to Naviance, the college and career planning software that will be used throughout the Don Bosco years to support increased self-awareness.
-
Sophomores
- Students use Naviance to explore potential career paths that align with their strengths and interests. Emphasis continues on academic achievement and meaningful community involvement. Students are encouraged to attend college fairs and tours organized by the school.
-
Juniors
- Heavy emphasis is placed on the college exploration process, with continued focus on personal integrity and social responsibility. A variety of informative workshops and presentations are scheduled. Parents and guardians are encouraged to meet with the student’s counselor to discuss specifics related to post-secondary planning.
-
Seniors
- Focus is now on the college application process. Counselors provide continued support for successful completion and submission of applications, with emphasis on continued scholastic achievement and meaningful extracurricular involvement.
2020-2023 College Acceptances
Our goal is to help our students prepare for and get into the schools that best match their personalities, interests and goals. Most of the time, it is the student’s number one choice. Here is a sampling of the colleges that Don Bosco Prep to which students have been accepted over the past few years.
