Dress Code for Your Visit

Prospective students are expected to be appropriately dressed when they visit Don Bosco Prep.

Dress pants or non-cargo khakis are acceptable attire along with a solid-colored polo shirt or collared dress shirt. Depending on the weather, you may also wear a jacket or sweater. Prospective students who attend Catholic middle schools may wear their school uniform on the day of their visit.

Register for the HSPT Entrance Exam

  • Exam Date: November 8, 2024
    The High School Placement Test is the Catholic High School Entrance Exam administered by the Archdiocese of Newark and the Diocese of Paterson. Don Bosco Prep will utilize the data collected from the HSPT for admissions, course placement, and scholarship considerations. Registration for the HSPT can be done by visiting www.njcoopexam.org. Don Bosco is one of many schools that host the exam but feel free to take it where is most convenient for you. As long as you request that Don Bosco Prep receive the scores, The Archdiocese will send them to us.  Our code is 807.

Submit School Transcripts

  • Transcripts should include all grades as well as standardized test results from 6th grade, 7th grade, and the first marking period of 8th grade. The applicant’s school may require a release of records form, which may be downloaded here. This expedites the process and saves you time. Please instruct the guidance counselor or principal to send the transcripts before the deadline of December 4, 2024. If your school is on a trimester that ends after December 4, 2024, please have the transcripts sent immediately after the close of the term, and inform our Admissions Office.

Submit Current 8th Grade English/Language Arts Teacher Letter of Recommendation

  • The current 8th grade English/ Language Arts Teacher Letter of Recommendation template is available electronically through the applicant’s class of 2029 online application checklist. Please complete the online application and utilize the electronic letter of recommendation feature. This is a required step.

Submit Current 8th Grade Mathematics Teacher Letter of Recommendation

  • The current 8th Grade Mathematics Teach Letter of Recommendation template is available electronically through the applicant’s class of 2029 online application checklist. Please complete the online application and utilize the electronic letter of recommendation feature. This is a required step.

Submit General Letter of Recommendation

  • A general letter of recommendation template is available electronically through the applicant’s class of 2029 online application checklist. Please complete the online application and utilize the electronic letter of recommendation feature.  Please note this does not need to be from a teacher and can be from any adult in the applicant’s life.  Some examples include Scout Leader, Pastor, or Coach.

Submit Savio Academic Scholarship Assessment

  • The Savio Academic Scholarship is the most prestigious merit-based scholarship awarded to students applying for the freshmen class.In addition to the required steps in the Don Bosco Prep application process (HSPT, online application, transcripts, and letters of recommendation), students wishing to be considered for a Savio Scholarship must also submit a written assessment which is different from the essay all students must complete. Due date is December 4, 2024.Please contact the Enrollment Department via e-mail at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

Financial Aid – Optional

  • ALL FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BY December 4, 2024.
    Incoming Freshmen applying to Don Bosco Prep are now able to apply for financial aid. Create an account to complete your financial aid application. Your financial aid decision will be shared at the same time you receive your admissions decision.  If you do not see anything, please contact Alex Casale [email protected] to make sure the application was submitted correctly.

Don Bosco Prep welcomes transfer applicants from Catholic, private and public high schools.

Mid-Year Transfers

Students transferring into Don Bosco Prep during the school year will start on the quarter breaks. This allows for a smoother transition for both students and staff.

November 2024 – start of the 2nd quarter

January 2025 – start of the 3rd quarter

Beginning-of-Year Transfer Application Process Currently in Progress

Thank you for expressing an interest in applying to Don Bosco Prep as a transfer student. Although students typically enter Don Bosco Prep as incoming freshmen (9th graders), we reserve the right to consider prospective transfer students entering their sophomore (10th grade) or junior (11th grade) years. We rarely make exceptions for applicants entering their senior (12th grade) year.

School Transcripts

  • Transcripts should include all grades as well as standardized test results for the past three (3) years. If your current school requires a form to release your records, please download the Records Release Form.

General Letter of Recommendation

  • The letter of recommendation provides us with a student’s academic abilities as well as his extracurricular talents and interests.

Interview

  • All transfer applicants must schedule a campus visit prior to being reviewed for admission.  An additional interview with the Principal or Assistant Principal for Academics will be required as well.

Applications will be reviewed based on student population and available space in each class.
