Over the Easter break, Youth Ministry hosted a mission trip to Tampa, Florida. The group consisted of ten juniors and were chaperoned by Salesian Cooperator, Mrs. Melissa Frank, and our Youth Ministry Coordinator, Br. Travis Gunther, SDB. They spent the week staying at the Mary Help of Christians Center while going out for service each day. They served at Don Bosco's Children's Home where they learned about foster care and the situation of young people in the Tampa area. They
also served at Metropolitan Ministries, learning about how homelessness affects families and their holistic approach for families with more than 20 ministries on one campus. Lastly, they served at Mary Help of Christians Center helping out with the farm, Cristo Rey Tampa High School, and the parish. There was also time for canoeing, fishing, pool time, and a visit to the beach. The trip was really marked by the people that our group met of all walks of life, whether we were serving them or alongside them. Their sense of the Salesian family was also expanded as we saw some of the Salesian presence in Tampa. We are grateful for their opportunity to serve and for their safe return home.
