DBP Alumni Ordained to Priesthood
The community of Don Bosco Prep is proud to have two alumni ordained to the priesthood in the Archdiocese of New York this past Saturday! Fr. Ryan Muldoon ‘09 and Fr. Walter Genito, Jr. ‘11 were ordained at St. Patrick’s Cathedral by Timothy Cardinal Dolan.
“St. John Bosco exhorted his Salesians to discover and accompany among the young men they educated those who might have a call to serve the Church as a brother or a priest,” said Fr. James Heuser, SDB, Director/President. “In the 100+ years of our school, over 130 young men have heard and followed such a call. We rejoice in the priestly ordinations of Father Ryan and Father Walter, the latest two alumni to respond to this dream of God in their lives. We pray they be good shepherds to those to whom they are sent, genuine bearers of the mercy of God.”
Many members of the Don Bosco Prep community attended the ordination, as well as the celebrations of their first Masses on Sunday. Fr. Ryan celebrated his first Mass at his home parish of St. Aedan’s in Pearl River, N.Y., and Fr. Walter celebrated Mass at Sacred Heart Parish in Suffern, N.Y.
