JUNIOR ROBOTICS VICTORY

Congratulations to the six Junior Ironmen Robotics teams for a strong performance at the Montclair Society of Engineers 41-team FIRST LEGO League Regional Qualifying Event held at Clifton High School on November 23, 2019.

The Junior Ironmen Beta team, with students from St. Joseph School in Oradell, finished in eighth place in the robot performance competition and qualified for the FIRST LEGO League state championship.  The Junior Ironmen Alpha team, also with students from St. Joseph School, received one of three awards for Robot Design. The first-year team Junior Ironmen Iota, with students from Eric E. Smith School, won the Rookie Rising Star Award. Fellow first-year teams Junior Ironmen Epsilon, with Students from the Academy of St. Paul, and Junior Ironmen Kappa, with students from St. John’s Academy, finished the robot performance in a very respectable 11th and 25th places respectively. 

Also, Junior Ironmen Delta, also with students from the Academy of St. Paul, finished the robot performance competition in 14th place. Also, two affiliate teams, Robo Crusaders from St. Elizabeth School, and AOL RoboNation from the Academy of Our Lady finished the robot performance competition in 1st and 7th places respectively, and qualified for the State Championship.  Finally, Fr. Lou Konopelski, SDB received the event’s mentor award.

The Ironmen Robotics FIRST LEGO League Incubator program is designed to help local schools, especially Catholic schools, start and run FIRST LEGO League teams with parent mentors.
