Several members of the DBP football team spent the afternoon yesterday with Brandon London, former NFL player with the NY Giants and current on-camera correspondent with the organization, instructing our student-athletes on public speaking methods in front of the camera, and how to create an image and brand for themselves.
As part of the afternoon’s program, the student-athletes broke into groups, role-playing as a moderator and panel members, to debate a topic. London, who won a Super Bowl with the Giants and is also a tv personality on Daily Blast Live, coached the boys during their presentations, which helps to teach the students how to discuss a topic and how to give one’s opinion. “You have to be a good listener, not just on the football field but in life,” London said. “Learn from other people’s mistakes, and respect everyone’s opinions. And find your own niche.”
The students understood the importance of the exercise. “Being able to speak to people in front of the camera and in everyday situations is really helpful,” said Amori Francis ‘24. “It’s important to have the correct facts and methods when you talk about certain topics.”
