Nicaragua

This long-standing mission trip began in 2011 with 7 seniors and has grown to as many as 30 members. The group, coordinated by Fr. Manny Gallo, SDB. and DBP faculty and staff members, works and stays at the Mama Margarita Foundation in Masaya, Nicaragua.dedicated to assisting Nicaragua's most forgotten residents, the children.

This trip raises the consciousness of the students and chaperones who have never witnessed this level of poverty. Students help feed and play with the children, feed the hungry at a dump site, visit local Salesian schools, and serve the disabled at the local hospital.

Haiti

For the past three years, a group of DBP students and faculty members led by Fr. Matt DeGance, SDB, have journeyed to the island of Haiti to assist the Missionaries of the Poor in Cap Haitian, and to help make a difference in the lives of those not only living in incredible poverty but who also suffer from physical and mental handicaps.

The students assist in an adult and children's group home, offering assistance with bathing, dressing, and feeding them. The boys also were able to play with the children and form relationships with them, discovering that children like them just want and need to be able to simply play.

Belle Glade

For the past two years, fifteen juniors have helped run a winter camp in an underprivileged imigrant community of Belle Glade, Florida.

Three Kings Camp, an oratory-style camp run out of St. Philip Benizi parish, is directed by Fr. Matt DeGance, SDB, and assisted by Br. Travis and Br. Sasika, allows the boys to  spend days interacting with the children, while displaying the Salesian spirit of faith and joy with the camp.
